I was originally going to purchase a Plumix for the italic nib and swap the nib out with my fine tip Metropolitan but I was entranced by the beautiful color so went with a 2nd Metropolitan. I'm very glad I did too! Jetpens claims this pen comes with an "exceptionally smooth steel nib" and it's true! Filled with Pilot Black ink the pen is silky smooth with no feedback at all that I can discern.

Excellent pen. The nib is great for adding just a touch of fancy to your everyday handwriting, so if you already put a few extra curls in your letters this will bring it to another level of pretty. For rapid writing, I suggest cursive over print. On standard cheap legal pad paper, cursive feels like it flows better with this nib than printing does.

It feels like the same nib as in a Plumix/Pluminix, but somehow better and not as scratchy. Same size, certainly. If you're looking to graduate from a Plumix, I couldn't think of a better pen as a step up.

I have had zero problems with the pen drying out after two weeks or so of daily use. I have noticed, however, that the included converter does need frequent refilling - at least once a day with my usage. Luckily, I enjoy the ritual of attempting not to get ink on my fingers. The included cartridge lasted a full week, so if you're looking for a longer period between fills, I'd go the cartridge route.

This is one of the best italic nibs I own. It has minimal drag and maximum line variation. I loaded mine up with Diamine Wild Strawberry and I am in heaven.

It's the Pilot Metro you already loved, but with an italic nib. Basically, what I've been waiting for since my first Metro.

More specifically: Good weight, great color selection, smooth ink flow, reasonable price, and now an italic nib. The medium has a nice amount of italic-ness that beautifies your normal handwriting, while still being functional for everyday note taking.

I literally can't stop writing with this pen! I matched it with a Diamine Red Lustre & it's so smooth and handles the shimmery ink well. The nib is just under 1mm, and produces lines appx 1mm wide. Great subtle calligraphy nib for smaller writing. Lovely addition to my Metro collection!

The band / pen color are just different enough to be annoying, but not different enough to be an accent band. It's like a red / red-pink that just doesn't match. If you're going to drop $20 on a pen, find something better.

I love this pen! It has the medium italic nib. Very smooth. I have many - too many - fountain pens but this is my current go to favorite

I love the Pilot Metropolitan body. Nothing wrong with that. I like very much this Medium Italic Nib. The odd thing? I think I like the similar Nib on the Pilot Plumix better. I know this version of the Metropolitan has come about because so many bought a Metro and a Plumix to swap nibs but I find at least right now I like this style Pilot Nib on the Plumix.
