I don’t really write reviews, but I’d like to chime in on this one. The tin
the pen comes in is nice and the inks and plastics are all super vibrant colors.
It really does look like it’s glowing. It was easy to snap in the cartridge,
and it looks like you could fill the body with an eye dropper too and use the
pen that way if you don’t want to buy the converter (I have not tried this
though). The pen itself is very solidly built but feels very light.
I see lots of other reviewers saying it’s very hard to get it to write, some
saying that it was an issue with the nib. This is my first time using a wide nib
like this, and I also had a really hard time figuring out how to get it to
write, which is why I looked at the reviews to see it anyone else had the same
trouble. I think it might be a skill issue. The pen works every time when held
perfectly vertically. No skipping, just nice fat lines with a really even coat.
However, if you hold the pen even slightly askew, it won’t write at all. My
TWSBI and LAMY pens work with no fuss, but those aren’t italic nibs, they’re
F/EF. The habit of holding the pen however you want as long as it’s angled
won’t work here. You need to be very strict with your grip with this pen.
If you can deal with that, it’s a nice kit. I find it kind of annoying to use
though.
