In addition to this unique material, the Homo Sapiens features a delightfully smooth 18k gold nib, a high-capacity Power Filler vacuum filling system, and a special Hook Safe Lock cap mechanism. Instead of typical threading, the cap is held in place by a set of five teeth that hook into the pen's grip section. This unique mechanism lets you uncap the pen with less than a quarter of a turn, but it also prevents the cap from coming unscrewed on its own in a bag or pen case. The pen also features Visconti's iconic spring-loaded arc clip, inspired by the arches of the Ponte Vecchio in Visconti's home city of Florence.

Notes:

• The pen body may have small markings and blemishes, which are characteristic of the natural lava material.
• This pen only uses bottled ink, which is not included with this pen. Check out our collection of bottled fountain pen inks here!
• To fill the pen, unscrew the plunger knob at the end of the barrel and pull back on the plunger. Dip the nib in bottled ink so that the ink is touching the lip of the grip section, then push the plunger down. This will create a vacuum that draws ink into the pen.
• Like other vacuum-filled pens, this pen includes a safety valve that seals off the ink reservoir when the plunger knob is fully tightened. Before writing, point the nib up and unscrew the plunger knob until there is a 2 mm gap between the knob and barrel of the pen. This will open the safety valve and allow ink to flow to the nib. Do not fully unscrew the knob, as this will allow the plunger to move and force ink out of the pen.
