A metal version of the legendary Safari, the LAMY AL-star features aluminum construction and a more professional palette of body colors to choose from. Its iconic design still feels as fresh and modern as it did when the Safari was first released in the early '80s.

Features:

Steel left-handed nib with a slightly oblique tip, designed for the angle used by many left-handed writers. It creates a similar line to a medium LAMY nib.
Ergonomically shaped grip section.
Ink window in the barrel.
Easy ink installation—simply put the cartridge inside the barrel or grip section, then screw the barrel and grip section together to automatically puncture the cartridge.
Aluminum construction.
Large, flexible metal pocket clip.
One blue ink cartridge.

Notes:

To prevent the ink cartridge from being punctured in transit, this pen comes with a cardboard spacer ring between the barrel and grip section. The ring must be removed before using the pen.
This pen may come with ink residue in the nib from being dip tested by LAMY at the factory. As with all new fountain pens, JetPens recommends giving your pen a good cleaning before you use it.

This is my first fountain...

This is my first fountain pen. Still trying to get used to it, and better with it, but it's amazing! The flow is perfect, the feel is very comfortable, it writes very smoothly. Glides, sort of. The only issue I've had is that the ink I'm using will smear when my hand passes over it, so I ended up holding the pen kinda weird.

A nib is a nib is a nib! Right? WRONG! Righties don't get the struggle we "correct-handed" folks deal with pushing a nib that fights you along the way. This is the FIRST fountain pen that I have actually enjoyed while not having to battle getting the pen strokes that I want while writing. It flows so smoothly I may not go back to my "right" made pens. I'll stick with this "correct" one.
