wants to provide the public with two important pieces of consumer information per state. This information will expose the enormous costs associated with standardized testing and empower parents to exempt their children from the process.

  1. How much money does each state spend per year on standardized testing?
  2. What is the law governing student participation in the standardized testing process? In other words, does a student have to take the state test? Do they have to take the test each year? How does a parent exempt their child from the testing process?

Please contribute to the collective intelligence of our community by contacting your state department of education or legislature to determine the answers to these very important, yet simple questions. Email the results of your research along with your name and the source of the data to data@pencilsdown.org.
